MARSHALL, Mich. (AP) — Crews are continuing their work to clean up a massive oil spill in a major river in southern Michigan.
Environmental Protection Agency officials, along with Michigan state and county officials plan a news conference Saturday afternoon to discuss the latest efforts to deal with the spill.
The 3 p.m. briefing is to be held in the cafeteria at Marshall High School.
The Canadian company that owns the pipeline that leaked oil into the Kalamazoo River says 820,000 gallons of oil leaked beginning Monday. The EPA puts the total at more than 1 million gallons.
Enbridge Inc. says the leak has been contained.
Hundreds of workers are involved in the cleanup.
