Grow An Extra Row
Many people in Northern Michigan grow their own vegetables and fruits each summer. Fox 32 and Morgan Composting’s Dairy Doo would like to encourage you to Grow an Extra Row this year and donate your extra fresh produce to your local food bank. This is a cheap way to help your Northern Michigan neighbors while using what you already have!

Here is a list of local food banks that accept fresh produce:

Community Lighthouse Food Pantry (Mancelona) 231-587-9967
Father Fred (Traverse City) 231-947-2055
Goodwill Inn (Traverse City) 231-922-4805
Mancelona Food Pantry 231-587-9606
Manna Project (Harbor Springs) 231-347-8852

Salvation Army Corps of Cadillac 231-775-7131
St. Ignace Food Pantry 906-643-7360

Restaurants and grocery stores can also take part in helping feed Northern Michigan. The Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan will pick up food that is close to expiring and distribute it to food banks where it can be used immediately. If your business is interested contact The Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan at 231-995-7723 or info@foodrescuenw.org.

Dairy Doo is designer compost that is carefully crafted to return balance and life to your soil. The mix is 100% organic and can make a difference in whatever growing project you may have. Custom blends are available for farms, greenhouses, lawns, gardens, and more!

If your food bank accepts fresh produce donations but is not listed here please send an email to promotions@mifox32.com.

Best of the Class Fox
Some of Michigan’s brightest graduating seniors were gathered at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City on May 24 for a luncheon held in their honor. WWTV/WWUP-TV 9&10 News, WFQX/WFUP-TV Fox 32, Northwestern Michigan College (NMC), and the Michigan Education Association teamed up to bring this luncheon, Best of the Class, to Northern Michigan once again in celebration of academic excellence in graduating seniors.

Speakers included Ryan Raiche, Reporter for 9&10 News and Fox 32. Following the presentation of certificates, the students participated in public service announcements (PSA’s) which can be seen on 9&10 News and Fox 32 throughout the month of June.
