UPDATE: Investigation Continues Into Police Standoff in Houghton Lake

New details on a what we now know was a deadly standoff, early Thursday morning in Houghton Lake.

Fox 32 News spent Thursday digging for the latest details and can now confirm the name of the man killed by in the standoff is Bernard Adams.

Deputies first responded to the scene near Standard and Kennedy streets around midnight for an argument between several people at the home.

Police say the incident stemmed from a domestic assault that happened earlier Wednesday night.

Two people were released from the home safely. 

The Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Task Force surrounded the home.

Police say Adams, 75 years old, walked out of the home with a gun pointed at police as he walked toward them. That is when police shot and killed Adams around 4:00 AM.

MSP Crime lab is investigating the scene for evidence.
